Mr. Hersh was one of the founders of NGP and currently serves as the CEO of NGP Energy Capital Management where he coordinates the activities of all its investment vehicles to ensure maximum synergy across investment silos. Mr. Hersh also serves as a Managing Partner of the NGP funds where he co-manages NGP's investment portfolio and oversees the firm’s ongoing investment sourcing, analysis and execution efforts. In addition to his influence over NGP’s core investment process, Mr. Hersh’s transaction skills and personal network of public and private capital sources are among the best in the industry. This enables NGP to take the lead in some of the more elaborate and complex transactions in the industry.

Prior to joining NGP in 1989, Mr. Hersh was employed by the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated where he was a member of the firm's energy group specializing in oil and gas financing and acquisition transactions.

Mr. Hersh is a 1985 magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University.  In 1989, he received his M.B.A. Stanford University, where he graduated as an Arjay Miller Scholar.
